Lord of The Raves : Into the Mind’s Eye
Proudly Presented by HTO Productions
There exists a place between the real and unreal; between that which can be seen, heard, and felt, and that which we believe to exist but cannot prove. For one night, HTO Productions will conjure this realm into reality and bring forth a place that will empower all of your senses, those known and unknown, conscious and subconscious, to become fully aware of all possibilities available to you as a living creature. Lineup:
-Aphrodite-
DJ Aphrodite, aka Gavin King, is the man himself behind the Aphrodite Recordings empire. Aphrodite is known for playing out a good vibe that ranges from classic to upfront and completely exclusive dubplates. With over 30 releases on the label Aphrodite’s remixes and DJ’ing are exploding on a global scale.
-Scooter & Lavelle-
With their jaw dropping mixing style, phenomenal production skills, easily recognizable look and unique sound, Scooter and Lavelle are quickly climbing the DJ ranks. Yes they are award winning DJ’s unto themselves, but when they spin together on 4 turntables – there is, quite literally, nothing like them out there. They have perfected the art of playing 4 records at once into a seamless sound uniquely theirs. Lavelle’s banging progressive mixes are the foundation of their music, and to it Scooter adds in scratching and turntablism as well as hip-hop, rock and pop music loops. They’ve been known to mix in everything from the Sesame Street theme song to Eminem’s “Slim Shady."
-Edgar V-
Edgar V has been quietly earning his repertoire in and around the dance music world. Synonymous to his personality, it may be difficult to tell during and after one of his signature prolific Progressive house/Trance sets, filled with a masterful blend of orchestral strings, ethereal vocals, and uplifting synth patterns with a spunk of tribal bass filled house. Owning residencies in Miami’s most infamous dance clubs, Edgar V has been on the forefront of Miami’s dance music.
-AK1200 – Orlando // Big Riddim Records, Planet of the Drums
VS
-DARA – New York // Breakbeat Science, Planet of the Drums
Two members of the infamous Planet of the Drums alongside fellow drum n' bass pioneers Dieselboy, & MC Messinian. AK1200 (Dave Minner), an Orlando, Florida-native, widely recognized as The Godfather of drum n' bass in America, has the longest running career of any drum n' bass DJ in the US - the first to give exposure to hundreds of UK based artists in the states. Truly an asset to the electronic dance music community, his lengthy list of credentials speaks for itself. DARA co-founded the nation's first and largest drum n' bass record store, Breakbeat Science, in NYC which doubles as his own imprint, Breakbeat Science Recordings. This Irish transplant has been a dominant figure in the U.S. drum n bass scene since his arrival here in 1994. His brilliant recording endeavors, along with his incessant touring marked by consistently awe-inspiring DJ sets, have made him one of the most recognized and well respected DJs in the country.
-Hydraulix-
Straight from Miami, Florida (the undisputed home of the 808 kick drum) comes Hydraulix. One of the most talked about and exciting Electro-Bass group to hit the Electro scene. Utilizing futuristic beats with an emphasis on dirty ass bass, their tracks are set to destroy dance floors worldwide. Richard ..Ash-Rock.. Zarate and Jaime ..JimiTheGenius.. Merlo have been dropping bass in their DJ sets for years (most notably as resident DJs for world renowned Culture Productions), all the while drawing from their childhood influences (2 Live Crew, Debonaire Records, Cut It Up Def Records, MC A.D.E, and Maggatron to name a few) to create a unique, dance floor friendly hybrid of Electro and Bass. Ash-Rock and JimiTheGenius then set their sights on conquering the world of production. Once they were comfortable with the knowledge that they had acquired from Merlyn a Breakbeat ambassador and Xerodefx . They quickly began banging out some of the sickest floor bombs on their co-owned label with Merlyn, which is Kuad Recordings. For Hydraulix, these to young stars have a bright future from the city of boom where they reside.
