DJ Ekim is a West Palm Beach based dj with roots in the Cleveland and Tampa jungle scene. His new passion though is drumstep, a relatively new sub-genre of dance music that mixes elements of both dubstep and drum & bass. Ekim is also the creator and owner of the website drumstepforum.com, which aims to be a central meeting point of sorts for fans of drumstep.

Where did you play your first set?
well out at a proper party it was in the flats in cleveland ohio. it was a huge place and i was scared as shit.it was a jungle set, i learned to spin with jungle and have pretty much stuck to it till this day. i had a great time at the end of it all and i spun alright, it was a great party.
Give us an idea of your typical set ?
well ive started drumstepforum.com recently and have really taken to the sound so the past few sets that ive spun out have been drumstep but its not all that i do. my favorite thing to spin out though to this day is hardstep jungle/hard ragga. i dont know what it is but i always tear it apart and have the best time when i get to spin it out and of course i love to use vinyl when i can.
What are your upcoming plans?
I'm setting up drumstep nights across the country right now. im currently talking to new york and so cal and i am working out a night in miami myself with somejerk. we are looking to present this sound to the massive so that all of the jungle kids that went dubstep can get those jungle doses that they still need. this is a great genre because its the best of both worlds and i cant wait till it takes over.
i also have been setting up the drumstepforum.com mix series. ive already had dirty deeds, dj premium, and capital j and i have some killer mixes coming from some other great djs soon so its going extremely well. i personally am making the founders mix series with a mix dropping in the next few weeks.
last but not least i have a new project with digital bill called invaders from mars!!! and we are giving away a bunch of great new tracks that we have been hammering out. the response has been great and im having some high hopes for the project.
